My father was always involved in motorsport when I was growing up and he won the Victoria Rally Championship in 1. Therefore, I had motorsport around me my entire life. I personally first started racing in 1. I competed in a ladies race at the Bendigo Karting Club. I then got a Datsun 1. I was the Victorian Ladies autocross champion in 2.

I compete in rallies all over the world at various levels. This season I am competing in the Rally America Series and working on doing more events. I also have a logistics and management role in the WRC for a team for five events in Portugal, Poland, Finland, Germany & Spain. Do you have a regular occupation that isn’t motor sport related? Prior to becoming a professional co- driver I was a Physical Education Teacher. In 2. 00. 5 I won the graduate “Teacher of the Year” for the state of Victoria. I am also a fully qualified hairdresser. In 2. 00. 0 I was named student of the year in my hairdressing course. I also played State League Netball in Melbourne for 5 seasons prior to taking up rallying. What do you love most about motor sport? Motorsport is my life. Ever since I can remember its been apart of who I am. My husband Alex Gelsomino (Ken Block’s co- driver) and I are both professional co- drivers and we live and breathe our sport. Its our passion. Our lives revolve around rally. I love the feeling I get when competing on the stages and the thrill of winning races. I love the great rally community and the amazing places rally has allowed me to travel too. What has been your greatest accomplishment in motor sport? I always dreamt of racing in the world rally championship. There are not many girls out there doing the WRC so when the opportunity come up in 2. Brendan Reeves this was a huge accomplishment. After achieving this goal I then set my goals on co- driving in a World Rally Car. This dream also become a reality in 2. M- Sport and Monster Energy contacted me to co- drive for Nascar driver Kurt Busch in the Monza Rally Show in Italy. This is an amazing experience and one I and striving to get the chance to do again in the near future. Do you have any non- motor sport interests? Yes, I love riding my dirt bike, mountain bike riding and hiking. What do you think the current perception of women in motor sport is? I think that in the sport of rally most women are treated very well and respected for their efforts in the sport just like any man is. I would love to see more females co- driving in the WRC but unfortunately to compete at that level you need to make a lot of sacrifices which some people are not willing to make. Who is your motor sport hero and why? Fabrizia Pons – The best female rally co- driver to compete in the World Championship. I strive to one day co- drive full time in the WRC in a factory car and reach some of the levels Fabrizia and Michelle did. They are true heros of the sport or rally and great role models for young up and coming rally drivers and co- drivers. What are your future ambitions? To gain a full time ride in the World Rally Championship. Its where I want to be. Now I just need to work hard and make my dreams become a reality. I thought I would also tell you about something that happened in my career that think has helped me to push harder and know what I want. In 2. 00. 9, while competing in the Australian Rally Championship with my brother Brendan Reeves we had a very serious crash in the final stage of the event with 1km to go. I broke both my femurs in two places, my right tibia and fibula and my left heel. This was a horrific crash both physically and mentally, but it also made me a stronger woman. While recovering and learning to walk again I always had one motivator, to get back into the rally car. After many months of physio I was given the all clear to rally again and returned to the co- drivers seat after 6 months on the sidelines. This is a terrible experience but it also helped to shape me into the woman I am today. Hard working, committed and goal driven. I hope that my story encourages other young women to trythe sport of rally and find the same joys I have from this incredible sport.
